WHAT A SAD NEWS: Detroit Lions top star player Frank Ragnow will not play for six weeks due to…..read more
Detroit Lions center Frank Ragnow will be sidelined for Monday’s matchup against the Seattle Seahawks due to a chest injury.
Ragnow, who was named a second-team All-Pro last season, suffered a partially torn pectoral muscle during last weekend’s victory over the Arizona Cardinals.
Head coach Dan Campbell noted that Ragnow was eager to participate in Monday Night Football but emphasized the need for caution. “We’re going to hold Frank out this week,” Campbell stated. “I’ll just get that out of the way. There’s no point in debating it.
“Frank is incredibly tough—one of the toughest players out there. If anyone could push through it, it’s him. But we have to be smart; it’s still early in the season, and there’s a lot of football ahead.”
Left guard Graham Glasgow is expected to shift over to Ragnow’s position, with either Michael Niese or Kayode Awosika stepping into the offensive line.
In more positive news for the Lions, defensive tackle Alim McNeill, who left the game against the Cardinals with a shoulder injury, is progressing. “Alim is doing better; he’s day-to-day,” Campbell shared. “He’ll be out there running around today, so we’re in a good spot there.”
