It’s clear that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a different atmosphere with Baker Mayfield at quarterback compared to their three seasons with Tom Brady.

Mayfield has publicly acknowledged this shift, making some significant accusations against the former quarterback, who is now a Fox Sports commentator.

While Mayfield and Brady never played together, as the former No. 1 overall pick never had the opportunity to back up Brady, the latter’s exit provided Mayfield with a chance to revitalize his career with his fourth NFL team.

Now feeling secure in his role, Mayfield is opening up about his predecessor’s influence within the franchise.

He shared on the Casa De Klub podcast, “If Brady didn’t like a particular play call during the week, he might deliberately throw a pass away or aim it at a running back or receiver’s feet during the game.”

Mayfield also noted that the atmosphere at Buccaneers’ headquarters is less “stressed out” compared to when Brady was there.

The results are telling; Tampa Bay made the playoffs every season with Brady and won the Super Bowl in 2021.
