Leeds United had to settle for a point in their away match against Sunderland, the league leaders, after conceding a last-minute equalizer on Friday night.
The Whites were in control for much of the game, having taken the lead through goals by Joel Piroe and Junior Firpo, one in each half.
After the match, Daniel Farke shared his thoughts with the media.
He said: “We played against a top-quality team that had only won at home so far, and no other team had even managed to score against them. Given how well we played, we certainly deserved all three points.
“To lose two points in the final moments like that is heartbreaking, and it feels more like a loss than a draw.
“Before the game, we’d have said a draw would be a great result. But despite the disappointment, today is probably the proudest I’ve been this season. The players performed incredibly well under difficult circumstances.
“At halftime, we were completely in control, having dominated the game, scored a great goal, and created more chances in the second half. Defensively, we were solid and didn’t let them create any real opportunities.
“We missed the chance to score a third goal and put the game away, but our defending was outstanding.
“I’m incredibly proud of how the team responded, how they played, and how we controlled much of the game. Despite the late disappointment, I have nothing but praise for my players. They were excellent, and I’m very proud of what they delivered.”
