IT’S OVER: Tennis legend Martina Navratilova is ‘cancer-free’ after fearing she might not make it to Christmas….

Martina Navratilova has announced she is “cancer-free” after battling both throat and breast cancer. The 66-year-old former world tennis number one had shared in January that she was diagnosed with two forms of cancer, but she has now overcome the disease, despite fearing she might not see Christmas.

During an appearance on TalkTV’s ‘Piers Morgan Uncensored,’ Navratilova said, “You get into tennis mode… that’s where having been a champion athlete comes in handy. I knew it was going to be hard but didn’t realize it would be this tough. The doctors don’t really prepare you for how intense it will be.”

She added, “As far as they know, I’m cancer-free. I still need to undergo a few weeks of radiation on my right breast as a preventive measure.”

Navratilova underwent chemotherapy, a proton therapy trial, and had a 7-8mm tumor removed from her right breast. Reflecting on her journey, she said, “I was never an underachiever, but this is getting ridiculous. Giving up is not an option for me. You just get on with it.”

Previously treated for early breast cancer in 2010, Navratilova had feared she wouldn’t see Christmas after her latest diagnosis. “I was in a total panic for three days, thinking I may not see next Christmas. I started thinking about my bucket list,” she recalled.

Last week, Navratilova’s wife, Julia Lemigova, 50, shared that the couple had paused their plans to adopt a child as Navratilova fought cancer. “When you’re adopting a child, it has to be about the child. Right now, everything is about Martina and her health. We’re putting the adoption on hold. We were expecting happy news about a baby, but instead, we are fighting two cancers. I’m just waiting for Martina to get better,” Lemigova explained.
