AC Milan manager Paulo Fonseca has predicted that Samuel Chukwueze will be a key player for the Rossoneri in the 2024/25 season, Soccernet.ng reports

Fonseca’s comments are likely to delight Chukwueze, who has been striving to impress the new Milan boss.

The Nigeria international was second choice to United States forward Christian Pulisic last season after his €20 million move from Villarreal.

Despite Pulisic also arriving in Milan from Chelsea during the same transfer window, he joined earlier than Chukwueze and had more time to integrate into the team, gaining the confidence of then-manager Stefano Pioli.

However, things have changed with Chukwueze spending more time under new manager Fonseca, as Pulisic participated in the Copa America.

Chukwueze has made the most of his opportunity, contributing two assists in a 3-2 win over Premier League champions Manchester City and scoring the decisive goal in a 1-0 victory against UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid.

Impressed with Chukwueze’s performances, Fonseca has expressed his reliance on the Super Eagles winger for the upcoming season.

“Chukwueze? Last year he didn’t play much and when a new coach arrives, you know, everyone wants to show what they can do,” Fonseca said, as per TMW.

“I’m really happy for him, he’s doing really, really well. I think he’ll be important in the team and will make the difference.”
