Barcelona have officially signed RB Leipzig’s versatile forward Dani Olmo, the Catalan club announced on Friday.

According to sources from ESPN, the deal is valued at an initial €55 million ($60m), with an additional €7 million possible through performance-based add-ons.

The Spanish international has committed to a six-year contract with the club, running until June 2030, and includes a release clause of €500 million. “I’m eager to get started. These past days have been intense, but everything happened so quickly, and I will always be thankful to Leipzig,” Olmo said during his unveiling. “We’re putting everything we have into this new chapter.”

Olmo, who was part of Barça’s academy before moving to Croatia at the age of 16, marks the club’s first major signing of the summer as they continue to navigate LaLiga’s financial restrictions.

Barcelona intensified their efforts to secure Olmo last week after becoming frustrated in their pursuit of Athletic Club’s Nico Williams.

Sporting director Deco traveled to Leipzig earlier this week, where negotiations with Olmo’s representatives and the Bundesliga club resulted in an agreement in principle by Tuesday.

Olmo, 26, then traveled to Barcelona, with the transfer officially completed on Friday. The Spain international is set to be presented on Friday before Barcelona’s friendly against Monaco at the Olympic Stadium on Monday.
