The Guyana Amazon Warriors have secured Afghanistan opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz for CPL 2024. Imran Tahir, who led the team to their first title last season, will continue as captain.

Gurbaz returns to the franchise, having previously played with them in 2022, where he featured in six matches and scored 157 runs, including two half-centuries.

The Warriors have also retained several international players: Pakistan’s Saim Ayub and Azam Khan, as well as South Africa’s Dwaine Pretorius. Among the West Indies players kept are Shimron Hetmyer, Shai Hope, Romario Shepherd, and Keemo Paul.

So far, the Amazon Warriors have signed 14 players and will need to add three more at the July draft to complete their squad.

The 2024 CPL will run from August 29 to October 6, with matches held in Antigua for the first time in a decade. Other venues include Barbados, Guyana, St Kitts & Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Trinidad & Tobago. The final will be held at the National Stadium in Providence, Guyana.
