Done Deal: AC Milan Has Signed Benjamin Šeško After…………..read more.
Barcelona may not be in the best financial situation right now, but that hasn’t stopped Deco and his team from aiming high in the transfer market. Despite their difficulties in registering the players they’ve already acquired, the club continues to pursue top-tier transfer targets.
The Catalan giants have been linked with AC Milan’s star player, Rafael Leao, and are also considering Juventus outcast Federico Chiesa as an option to strengthen the left wing before the transfer window closes.
According to SPORT, Deco has reached out to Jorge Mendes regarding a potential move for the 25-year-old Portuguese star. However, Barcelona is fully aware of the challenges involved, given the high transfer fee and the need to comply with financial fair play regulations.
Reports, citing Gazzetta dello Sport, suggest that AC Milan has declared Leao non-transferable, with one exception: any interested club must pay his €175 million release clause to secure his services this summer.
Barcelona and Deco were hoping to negotiate a deal by offering around €65 million plus one of their players in a swap deal with AC Milan. However, the Italian club has rejected this proposal outright.
Given that Barcelona is struggling to register Dani Olmo, signing a player as expensive as Leao seems highly unlikely. Despite the media speculation, it would be surprising if Barcelona seriously pursued the Portuguese international this summer.
On the other hand, a move for Federico Chiesa from Juventus appears more feasible for Barcelona. There are reports suggesting that the club is preparing a €10 million offer for the 26-year-old Italian.
Both players are of a similar age and can be unstoppable at their best, but Chiesa comes with a much lower price tag. He would be a valuable addition to the squad, and Barcelona should focus on securing him rather than pursuing Leao.
