A prominent media figure suggests that Chicago Sky star Angel Reese should rethink how she addresses her critics on her podcast.
Reese recently launched her podcast, “Unapologetically Angel,” which has already garnered a strong audience. In the first episode, the standout rookie opened up about her relationship with Caitlin Clark and shared candid criticism of both the Iowa and Indiana Fever fanbases.
“Caitlin is an incredible player, and I’ve always admired her. We’ve been playing against each other since high school,” Reese said. “But I think her fans, the Iowa fans, and now the Indiana fans, take it too far sometimes. I respect their loyalty, but it often crosses into disrespect. There’s definitely a lot of racism involved, though I don’t believe Caitlin supports any of that.
“I’ve even received death threats. People have found my address, followed me home, and created AI-generated nude images of me, which were sent to my family.”
Former 2K Sports host Rachel DeMita believes Reese’s approach to addressing “haters” may not be the best strategy.
“The rivalry has been great for viewership and engagement. But in the past few months, Angel has frequently talked about the hate she receives online. I think the drama has affected her more than it should,” DeMita shared in a recent vlog. “Even though she says there’s no issue between her and Caitlin, she still makes comments about the haters. My advice, from my experience in the industry, is that the more you respond, the more you invite back.”
Reese’s stellar rookie season was cut short by a wrist injury, but she made history, averaging 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game while breaking multiple records.
