Breaking News: Tottenham Former Star Toby Alderweireld Is Back Again………………..read more.
Tottenham Hotspur central defender Toby Alderweireld might be sidelined until next year due to a hamstring injury, manager Mauricio Pochettino announced on Thursday. Alderweireld, 28, picked up the injury during a Champions League match against Real Madrid on November 1 and was initially expected to return sooner. He will miss Saturday’s north London derby against Arsenal and could also be out for an additional 11 matches if he doesn’t return by the end of December.
Pochettino mentioned, “We expect the recovery to take longer than we initially thought. It might be after Christmas before he returns.”
Meanwhile, Harry Kane (knee), Dele Alli (hamstring), and Harry Winks (ankle) could potentially be available for the Arsenal match despite withdrawing from the England squad due to injuries. Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, who missed Spurs’ 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace before the international break due to a groin strain, may also return.
Pochettino expressed cautious optimism, stating, “We are hopeful, but we need to evaluate each case carefully. I hope we can have them for the match, but we need to coordinate with the medical team and sports science staff. If they can’t play on Saturday, they should be close to returning for Tuesday’s game against Borussia Dortmund or next weekend’s match against West Bromwich Albion. Their situations are not as serious as Toby Alderweireld’s.”
