A Big Congratulation: Ange Postecoglou Has Been Named EPL Coach Of The ……………………read more.

Son Heung-min made every effort to be part of Tottenham’s trip to Manchester United but ultimately didn’t make it.

The Spurs captain sustained a hamstring injury during Thursday’s Europa League win against Qarabag and was subbed off as a precaution. Initially, the 32-year-old hoped he would recover in time to play at Old Trafford.

Exclusive: Fabrizio Romano shares thoughts on Ange Postecoglou

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou had expressed optimism during his pre-match press conference that Son would be fit to lead the team. However, after Saturday’s training session, it was decided that the game came too soon for him.

Postecoglou explained on Sunday: “He just wasn’t ready today, so we move forward without him. We’ve faced this before, and we have to adapt.”

In Son’s absence, Timo Werner steps into the lineup. The German forward, who has mostly been a backup since extending his loan from RB Leipzig, now gets the opportunity to shine.

“Timo is most comfortable in that role. We signed him for situations like this—big games, iconic venues, lots of eyes on him. These are the moments players want to be part of,” Postecoglou said.

Werner joins an attack featuring Brennan Johnson, who’s hit form, and Dominic Solanke, who has scored in his last two outings and is eager to continue that streak at Old Trafford.

Solanke shared his confidence ahead of the match: “We’re not afraid of anyone. We’ll go there and be proactive. One reason I was so happy to join Spurs is because of the playing style. It suits me perfectly, and when we’re at our best, we can control games. That way, I’ll get plenty of chances.”

In a surprise move, Yves Bissouma has been left out of Spurs’ attack-focused lineup, with Rodrigo Bentancur the only defensive midfielder starting. James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski are also in the first XI.

Son might be back in action for Tottenham’s midweek Europa League match against Ferencvaros.
