Eagles secure wide receiver DeVonta Smith with a new three-year contract extension.
The Philadelphia Eagles have reached an agreement with wide receiver DeVonta Smith on a three-year contract extension, extending through the 2028 season, as announced on Monday.
Smith, who has recorded 240 receptions for 3,178 yards and 19 touchdowns in his three seasons with the Eagles, was a standout player at Alabama, winning the Heisman Trophy in 2020 and contributing to two national championships during his four years with the Crimson Tide.
Reportedly, Smith’s new deal amounts to $75 million, with $51 million guaranteed. His most impressive season thus far was in 2022, where he played a significant role in guiding the Eagles to the Super Bowl with 95 catches and 1,196 yards.
This extension for Smith adds to the Eagles’ active offseason, which included notable signings such as former Giants running back Saquon Barkley, linebackers Bryce Huff and Zack Baun, and the return of safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, who previously left in free agency. Additionally, wide receiver DeVante Parker secured a one-year deal with a $4.69 million guarantee, while offensive lineman Matt Hennessy joined the team.
Further bolstering their roster, the Eagles agreed to a one-year, $7.5 million deal with former Tampa Bay linebacker Devin White. Notably, kicker Jake Elliott, two-time Pro Bowl guard Landon Dickerson, and defensive end Brandon Graham also inked deals to remain with the team.
The retirement of Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox leaves the Eagles with just four players remaining from their 2017 Super Bowl-winning season.
