The Cardinals pair is said to be unlikely to return from their injuries in the near future.

The St. Louis Cardinals continue to have several key players missing from their lineup. Despite their record hovering around .500 at 9-10, the team has faced challenges with multiple impactful injuries and a struggling offense. While they possess considerable talent, the Cardinals may have to wait a while before their injured players return and they can fully capitalize on their potential.

Throughout this season, St. Louis has yet to field a complete lineup due to various injuries. Notably, Tommy Edman and Dylan Carlson have been sidelined, and their return doesn’t seem imminent, according to reports from The Athletic’s Katie Woo. Edman, recovering from offseason wrist surgery, has recently been cleared for a throwing program, but both he and Carlson, who suffered a separated shoulder, are anticipated to have slow rehabilitation progressions.

Although there has been some improvement in Edman and Carlson’s recoveries, it appears they still have a considerable journey ahead. Edman, initially slated as the team’s Opening Day center fielder, has faced setbacks in his rehabilitation from surgery. Carlson, who contended for the starting center field position in Spring Training, has been sidelined since sustaining a shoulder injury.

The Cardinals’ offensive performance has fallen short of expectations this season, and the eventual return of Edman and Carlson is anticipated to provide a boost. However, it seems that the team will have to wait a while longer before they can count on their full roster.
