No More Rancid: Band Releases Final Statement—‘This Is Where It Ends’
Berkeley, CA — July 10, 2025
After more than three decades of defining punk rock for a generation, Rancid has officially called it quits. In a brief but emotionally charged statement released on the band’s official channels under the title “This Is Where It Ends”, the group confirmed that there will be no future shows, no new music, and no reunions.
The message, signed collectively by Tim Armstrong, Lars Frederiksen, Matt Freeman, and Branden Steineckert, reads:
> “We’ve lived this life together for over 30 years. From dive bars to stadiums, from chaos to unity, we gave it everything. But all storms settle. This is where it ends. Thank you for riding with us. Love, Rancid.”
The announcement comes just weeks after the band completed a string of sold-out 30th anniversary shows across Europe. Rumors had already been swirling about growing tensions within the group, especially after several fans noticed the absence of interaction between Armstrong and Frederiksen during the final encore in Berlin.
Fans across social media are reacting with heartbreak, disbelief, and overwhelming gratitude. Thousands have begun tagging posts with #RancidNationForever, sharing concert memories, lyrics, tattoos, and worn-out vinyl sleeves.
The band’s website has been replaced with a black screen and the words “This Is Where It Ends” scrawled in their signature graffiti style. No further comment has been made.
Music journalists are already calling it “the quietest, loudest goodbye in punk history.”
While the world may never hear a new Rancid song again, their message — rebellion, survival, brotherhood — remains inked into the fabric of punk culture. And for Rancid Nation, the echo of “Time Bomb” and “Roots Radicals” will never truly fade.
This is where it ends — but never where it’s forgotten.
