BREAKING: SAGA Enters Studio to Record First Full-Length Album of New Material in Over a Decade
Toronto, July 10, 2025 — In a stunning and long-awaited announcement, Canadian progressive rock icons SAGA have officially entered the studio to begin recording their first album of entirely new material in over a decade.
The band confirmed the news today through an official statement posted on their website and social media platforms, accompanied by behind-the-scenes photos from inside the recording studio in Oakville, Ontario. The new album, currently operating under the working title “Out of the Silence”, marks the group’s return to original songwriting since 2012’s 20/20.
“We’re finally back where we belong — in the studio, creating again,” said keyboardist Jim Gilmour. “It’s been a long road, but the ideas have never stopped flowing. This record will say everything we’ve felt, especially in these past few years.”
The emotional weight of the project is especially significant given the health challenges faced by frontman Michael Sadler, who underwent cancer surgery in 2024. Despite his medical leave from touring, Sadler is now well enough to begin tracking vocals for the new album. “I didn’t know if I’d ever sing again,” Sadler shared in a short video clip. “But this album gave me a reason to fight.”
Guitarist Ian Crichton, also returning after recovering from a serious leg injury, promises “a bold and cinematic sound” that will resonate with both longtime fans and a new generation of listeners.
The album is expected to explore themes of survival, silence, and rebirth — reflecting the personal and artistic journey the band has been through.
A release date is anticipated for early 2026, with vinyl, CD, digital, and deluxe editions already in development.
With renewed energy and purpose, SAGA’s next chapter has officially begun — and fans around the world are ready to listen.
