NBA Review: It might be Luka Krajnovic last season with the miami heats due to..

Luka Krajnovic, a freshman guard who played limited minutes for Gonzaga in the 2023-24 season, recently decided to transfer, marking the team’s latest potential departure through the transfer portal.

Amid speculation about Krajnovic’s intentions, the 6-foot-5 guard officially entered the transfer portal on Tuesday, as reported by Terrence Oglesby of the Field of 68.

Wednesday marked the deadline for players to enter the transfer portal before the spring window closed.

Krajnovic joined Gonzaga’s roster late last summer and struggled to secure consistent playing time in a backcourt that featured Ryan Nembhard, Nolan Hickman, and Dusty Stromer. Stromer often assumed the primary guard role after Ben Gregg took over as a starter.

In 16 games, Krajnovic averaged 2.9 points and 1.3 rebounds per game, shooting 46% from the field, 33.3% from three-point range, and 78.9% from the free-throw line, playing an average of 8.3 minutes per game.

He missed nine games due to a hand injury but returned for Gonzaga’s game against Loyola Marymount on Jan. 30. Krajnovic appeared in 10 more games during the season, including both of GU’s NCAA Tournament games, but was absent for the Sweet 16 matchup with Purdue due to illness.

Krajnovic’s highest minutes (21) came in games against Eastern Oregon, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, and Mississippi Valley State, where he scored a season-high seven points in four games, including Gonzaga’s NCAA Tournament opener against McNeese State.

With Krajnovic’s departure, Gonzaga now has three players in the transfer portal this offseason, including freshman forward Pavle Stosic and junior walk-on forward Colby Brooks. The Zags have the opportunity to fill up to four open scholarships before the 2024-25 season.

Despite the return of Nembhard, Hickman, and Stromer, Krajnovic’s exit leaves Gonzaga with limited depth in the backcourt. The Bulldogs are actively pursuing transfers and high school guards to strengthen their roster for the upcoming season.
