Over the weekend, the Blues released five senior players and saw their five loanees depart, necessitating the signing of numerous players this summer. John Ruddy and Lukas Jutkiewicz have been offered new contracts, and Keshi Anderson’s contract has been extended by 12 months.
With Neil Etheridge leaving, Blues will need to sign at least one new goalkeeper this summer. If Ruddy decides not to accept his new contract and leaves, Blues will need to find two goalkeepers for their upcoming League One season.
Championship-bound Derby County surprised many by releasing Joe Wildsmith on Saturday. Wildsmith, who won the League One Golden Glove award last season for being the best goalkeeper in the division, kept 20 clean sheets in 40 appearances and conceded the fewest goals.
