Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick is adamantly denying an accusation that he used a racial slur towards a woman while playing for Duke’s men’s basketball team, insisting the incident never occurred.
Halleemah Nash, an author, speaker, and Duke alum, made the allegation on social media on Tuesday, stating, “I’ve only been called the N-word to my face by a white man once in my life, and it was on the campus of Duke University while I was working with the basketball team.”
Referencing Redick’s new role, she added, “And today he was named the new head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers. What a world.”
Redick, who was a star at Duke and played 15 seasons in the NBA, was officially introduced as the 29th head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday.
Nash posted the allegation on her account at 9:10 AM on Tuesday, and it has since been viewed 10 million times.
