Johnson took over in 2017, and has gone 229-153 as the Sooners head coach, including a trip to the College World Series in 2022.
In his seventh season as the head coach of the Sooners, Oklahoma won the Big 12 regular season championship and hosted a regional for the first time since 2010. The Sooners went 40-21 with a 23-7 conference record in 2024.
Johnson’s name had been mentioned as a possibility for the Texas A&M job, but will now stay with the Sooners as the program transitions to its first season in the SEC in 2025.
