  • Bad Religion Announces Country Album: ‘We’re Dead Serious’

In a move no one saw coming, legendary punk band Bad Religion has announced the release of a full-length country album, slated for later this year. The band, known for their blistering political anthems and sharp anti-establishment lyrics, confirmed the shocking shift during a surprise livestream on Thursday night.

Frontman Greg Graffin, who has long flirted with Americana influences in his solo work, addressed the announcement with a smile: “Look, we’ve been angry punks for over 40 years. It’s time to show another side of ourselves. We’re dead serious about this.”

The new record, titled “Outlaws of Reason”, reportedly blends classic outlaw country with Bad Religion’s signature lyrical depth. Tracks like “Whiskey & Free Will”, “Sunday Sermons and Suffering”, and “Crossbusters & Cowboy Boots” have already been teased by bassist Jay Bentley as “some of the most honest songs we’ve ever written.”

Naturally, the punk community is divided. Some fans have embraced the creative detour, while others accuse the band of “going soft.” But guitarist Brian Baker was quick to respond: “Country music and punk actually have a lot in common. They’re both rebel music at heart.”

The band confirmed that the album will include guest appearances from Sturgill Simpson, Lucinda Williams, and even a rumored collaboration with Willie Nelson. Bad Religion plans to support the release with a limited-run “Honky Tonk Heresy” tour across small venues in Nashville, Austin, and Bakersfield.

Is this the strangest turn in punk history—or the most punk move yet? Either way, fans and critics alike are eagerly waiting to hear what Bad Religion sounds like in cowboy hats.

Pre-orders for Outlaws of Reason begin next week. Yee-haw, heathens.
