  • “End of an Era: Scott Gorham Announces Permanent Departure from Thin Lizzy”

In a stunning announcement that has rocked the rock music community, longtime guitarist and Thin Lizzy legend Scott Gorham has officially declared his permanent departure from the band. The news, released via a heartfelt social media post and an official statement from the band’s management, marks the end of a nearly five-decade-long chapter in the iconic group’s history.

Gorham, who joined Thin Lizzy in 1974 and helped shape its signature twin-guitar sound, described the decision as “one of the hardest” he’s ever made. “Thin Lizzy has been my home, my heart, and my family for over 45 years,” he wrote. “But the time has come for me to step away—for good—and give space for the next chapter to be written.”

The guitarist cited a desire to focus on personal health, family, and his other creative projects, including work with Black Star Riders. Though rumors had swirled in recent months about changes within the band, fans were still stunned by the finality of the news.

Thin Lizzy, who are set to launch a world tour later this year, confirmed that the shows will continue in tribute to Gorham’s legacy. “Scott has been the soul of this band. Without him, there is no Thin Lizzy as we know it,” said vocalist Ricky Warwick. “We’ll carry on, but it’ll never be the same.”

Fans around the globe have taken to social media to pay tribute to the man who helped define one of rock’s most beloved bands. From Jailbreak to Black Rose, Gorham’s soaring solos and tight harmonies became the foundation of Thin Lizzy’s sound.

With Scott Gorham’s departure, a legendary era officially draws to a close.
