  • “Magnum Announce New Studio Album to Honor Tony Clarkin’s Legacy”

In a stunning and emotional announcement, British rock veterans Magnum have confirmed they will be recording a brand-new studio album in honor of their late guitarist and founding songwriter, Tony Clarkin, who passed away in 2024.

The band made the announcement via their official website and social media channels, stating:

> “Tony’s music lives on. We are proud to announce that a new Magnum studio album is underway, built on the ideas and demos he left behind. This is our way of keeping his spirit alive.”

The upcoming album, titled “Legacy,” is set to include never-before-heard material composed by Clarkin in his final years. The current lineup — featuring longtime frontman Bob Catley, bassist Dennis Ward, keyboardist Rick Benton, drummer Lee Morris, and guitarist Brendon Riley (Clarkin’s former guitar tech who stepped in during the 2025 tribute tour) — will work together to bring Tony’s unfinished musical visions to life.

Recording is set to begin in autumn 2025, with a release projected for early 2026. Fans can also expect a world tour in support of the album, depending on Catley’s health and scheduling.

This announcement comes as a welcome surprise to fans who feared the end of Magnum following Clarkin’s death. The band’s decision to move forward not only honors his memory but also reinforces their commitment to storytelling through music — a hallmark of their decades-long career.

“This is for Tony. This is for the fans. This is for the love of music,” Catley said in the statement. With “Legacy,” Magnum ensures that the final word belongs not to silence — but to song.
