Tarja Turunen and Nightwish Reunite After Nearly 20 Years: World Tour and New Music Announced
In what fans are calling the “miracle of symphonic metal,” Tarja Turunen and Nightwish have officially announced a full-scale reunion nearly two decades after their dramatic split in 2005. The bombshell news was confirmed today in Helsinki, where all current and former members of the band appeared together at a press conference — united, smiling, and ready to write a new chapter.
Tarja, who was famously dismissed from the band through an open letter, stood beside Tuomas Holopainen and Floor Jansen as the group revealed plans for a Nightwish Reunion World Tour in 2026, followed by a collaborative studio album featuring both Tarja and Floor sharing vocal duties.
“I never thought this day would come,” Tarja admitted emotionally. “But time has healed us. We’ve matured, we’ve talked deeply, and now we want to make music again — together.”
Tuomas echoed the sentiment. “This isn’t about fixing the past; it’s about celebrating everything we’ve built — and pushing it forward.”
The reunion is not a replacement but an expansion of the Nightwish universe. Floor Jansen, who remains the band’s primary vocalist, said she was “thrilled and honored” to share the stage with Tarja. “Our voices are very different, and I think fans will love how they blend and contrast.”
The upcoming album, tentatively titled “Echoes of the End and Beginning”, is already in pre-production, with Holopainen teasing it as “the most cinematic and emotional work we’ve ever done.”
Tickets for the world tour are expected to go on sale next month — and if the fan reaction online is anything to go by, they won’t last long.
For longtime Nightwish followers, this is more than a comeback — it’s a historic reconciliation and a dream come true.
