“Unreleased Vault of Teena Marie Music Set for Posthumous Release, Says Family”
In a joyous revelation for devoted fans around the globe, the estate of the late R&B legend Teena Marie has announced the upcoming release of a long-lost collection of unreleased tracks—bringing back the magic of “Lady T” like never before. Scheduled for release later this year, the album will feature more than a dozen never-before-heard songs recorded during the height of her creative powers in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
The project, titled “Ivory Soul: The Lost Sessions,” is being curated by Teena’s daughter Alia Rose (also known as Rose LeBeau), who has been working closely with trusted producers and engineers to preserve her mother’s original vision. According to the estate, the music was discovered in a carefully sealed studio vault in Los Angeles, untouched since Teena’s passing in 2010.
“These songs are full of fire, love, and the spirit that defined her,” Alia said in a press statement. “It’s like hearing her again in the room with us.”
In addition to the new album, a limited-edition vinyl pressing and an accompanying documentary, “Lady T: Still Singing,” are set to be released alongside the music. The film will trace the journey of recovering the material and include rare behind-the-scenes footage, unreleased interviews, and testimonials from industry legends such as Stevie Wonder and Sheila E.
For fans who have long missed Teena Marie’s unmatched blend of funk, soul, and poetic storytelling, this posthumous gift is nothing short of a dream come true. Pre-orders for Ivory Soul: The Lost Sessions will open in August, with the full release slated for November.
This marks the most significant release from Teena Marie’s estate since her final album, Beautiful, drop
ped in 2013.
