Premier League debut for former Blue Tawanda Chirewa at Ipswich Town
At Amex Stadium, Brighton held Gary O’Neil’s team to a goalless draw as the 20-year-old entered the game as a late substitution.
Earlier this month, he earned his professional debut in the FA Cup against Brentford, coming on as a substitute after a standout season for their under-21 squad.
O’Neill, the head coach, stated: “Tawanda has shown enough to me in training, I’m pleased for him and know the lads were pleased for him to get his debut.”
“As a young man coming out of the academy, it’s a huge accomplishment to make your debut in a squad and team this talented.” I’m happy for him.
Chirewa declined a new contract at Portman Road, thus he left the Blues to relocate to Molineux last summer. Town was paid a compensation amount for the assailant.
In all, he made three games for Town; he made his debut in the Papa Johns Trophy against Colchester United as a substitute. At 16 years and 31 days, he became the second-youngest first-team player in the club, only younger than Connor Wickham.
