Edmonton Oilers’ Evander Kane will be absent from the game against the Ottawa Senators.

Edmonton Oilers forward Evander Kane will be absent from Sunday’s game in Ottawa, sitting out against the Senators for what head coach Kris Knoblauch has termed a “maintenance day.”

This decision comes as the Oilers engage in the second game of a back-to-back weekend, following a 6-3 defeat to the Maple Leafs in Toronto on Saturday night.

Kane, who has amassed 21 goals and 39 points in 67 games this season, logged 15:21 minutes of ice time in the loss to the Leafs.

In goal for the Oilers, Calvin Pickard will take the starting position, stepping in for Stuart Skinner during the third period in Toronto.

The Oilers’ matchup against the Senators is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. MT and will be broadcasted on Sportsnet West and Sportsnet+.
