Dennis Lawrence: Head coach of Coventry City’s first squad departs to join Minnesota United of the Major League Soccer
After Saturday’s FA Cup quarterfinal against Wolves, the 49-year-old will leave the Sky Blues to become an assistant head coach for the MLS team.
Since 2021, Lawrence has been a member of Mark Robins’ backroom crew.
According to Robins, Dennis and his family have an amazing chance, as stated on the club website.
Lawrence, a former center back for Wrexham and Swansea, participated in the 2006 World Cup and earned 89 caps for Trinidad & Tobago.
Before joining Coventry two years later and assisting them in reaching the Championship play-off final last season, he managed his country from 2017 to 2019.
Additionally, Robins said, “I would like to thank Dennis for his hard work and important contribution to the success that we have experienced over the last few years.” Dennis has been a valued member of the team for a number of years.
Former Wales and Manchester United assistant coach Eric Ramsay, who took over as manager of Minnesota in February at the age of 32, became the league’s youngest manager ever.
