Oklahoma secures commitment from highly-rated 4-star running back Tory Blaylock.
Following his attendance at Oklahoma’s Elite Junior Day in Norman on January 27, highly-rated 4-star running back Tory Blaylock announced his commitment to the Sooners on Friday.
Blaylock and his family shared multiple photos from the event, showcasing the standout running back adorned in an OU jersey featuring the SEC patch on the right shoulder.
Originating from Houston, Blaylock is regarded as a 4-star recruit in the 2025 class. The Atascocita (TX) star running back holds rankings as the No. 159 overall player and the No. 12 running back in the upcoming cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
Standing at 5-foot-10 and weighing 175 pounds, Blaylock exhibits impressive quickness and acceleration in the backfield. Earlier this month, he recorded a notable time of 10.56 in the 100-meter dash, outpacing former OU running back target and LSU commit Caden Durham in the race. Additionally, Blaylock contributed to Atascocita’s 4×100-meter relay team setting a national record last weekend with a remarkable time of 38.92 seconds.
Blaylock is the son of former Kansas City Chiefs and New York Jets running back Derrick Blaylock, who amassed 539 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground in 2004.
With Blaylock’s commitment, Oklahoma’s 2025 class now boasts 10 pledges. Blaylock joins offensive recruits such as 4-star quarterback Kevin Sperry, 4-star wide receivers Gracen Harris and Elijah Thomas, 3-star athlete Trynae Washington, 4-star tackle Ryan Fodje, and 3-star lineman Owen Hollenbeck. This collection of talent has the potential to significantly bolster Oklahoma’s roster under Brent Venables’ leadership.
Blaylock’s commitment further highlights the successful recruiting efforts of DeMarco Murray, OU’s running backs coach. Murray secured the nation’s top running back in the 2024 class with Taylor Tatum and also secured one of the nation’s top five running backs in the 2026 class with Jonathan Hatton Jr.
