Could Stefon Diggs be a viable choice for the Rams in 2025?

The unexpected trade sending Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans earlier this week has stirred surprise across the NFL community. With the Texans revising Diggs’ contract shortly after his arrival, making him a free agent after the 2024 season, the question arises: Should he be considered an option for the Los Angeles Rams in 2025?

In theory, Diggs would offer valuable playmaking skills alongside Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp. The Rams lack an established WR3 currently on their roster, and adding a veteran like Diggs could optimize the remaining years of Matthew Stafford’s career.

However, there are both positives and negatives to consider. While Diggs’ performance in Buffalo waned in the latter half of his last season, he remained a productive player, surpassing 1,000 yards receiving for the fourth consecutive season with the Bills. The shift in offensive philosophy from a pass-oriented to a run-oriented approach under new coordinator Joe Brady may have impacted Diggs’ production and contributed to his desire for a change of scenery.

On the downside, Diggs has gained a reputation for being somewhat of a diva, with reports of tension between him and his quarterback, Josh Allen, surfacing over time. His penchant for cryptic tweets and on-field confrontations may pose challenges for team chemistry.

Should the Rams consider pursuing Diggs, they must carefully evaluate the potential risks and benefits. While he could undoubtedly bolster their offense, the team must ensure that they can manage any potential personality conflicts and keep Diggs satisfied with his role and targets. Ultimately, the decision lies with Rams’ decision-makers, Les Snead and Sean McVay, when the time comes.
