Welcome: Detroit Lions inked 3 years contract with a top CB Dane Brugler from…

A highly-rated cornerback prospect is scheduled to meet with the Detroit Lions during a pre-draft visit.

Arguably the top cornerback prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft is scheduled to visit the Detroit Lions on Wednesday. Terrion Arnold, a defensive back from Alabama and Dane Brugler’s top-ranked cornerback in this year’s class, recently shared photos from inside the Lions’ locker room on his personal Instagram account.

Arnold had an impressive final year at Alabama, tallying 17 passes defended and five interceptions in 2023, earning him First Team All-SEC and First Team All-American honors. Standing at 5-foot-11 and weighing 189 pounds, Arnold possesses both the size and speed desired in the NFL. His Relative Athletic Score (RAS) of 9.25 is notable for his exceptional three-cone time (6.69) and explosive 10-yard split (1.52) in the 40-yard dash (4.5).

However, if the Lions aim to secure Arnold, it’s widely believed they’ll need to trade up from their current 29th overall pick, possibly significantly. Arnold is viewed as a potential top-10 selection, or at least expected to go in the first half of the first round. Lions’ general manager Brad Holmes has shown a willingness to trade up in the first round before, as evidenced by the move from 32nd to 12th to draft Jameson Williams in 2022.

This offseason, the Lions have made significant efforts to bolster their cornerback group, acquiring Carlton Davis via trade from the Buccaneers, signing Amik Robertson in free agency, and retaining Emmanuel Moseley, Kindle Vildor, and Khalil Dorsey on one-year deals. However, the departures of Cameron Sutton and Jerry Jacobs in free agency highlight both short and long-term needs for additional cornerback depth.

Bringing in Arnold could potentially transform one of the Lions’ weakest areas from the previous season into a notable strength in 2024. For a comprehensive list of all players who have visited the Lions before the draft, refer to the 2024 Detroit Lions pre-draft visit tracker.
