Fred Biletnikoff’s collegiate career as a wide receiver in the 1960s was so exceptional that it inspired the creation of an award in his honor. Despite encountering injuries early on at Florida State, Biletnikoff emerged as a consensus All-American by the conclusion of his tenure. In his senior year of 1964, he amassed an impressive 70 receptions, leading the nation with 1,179 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns. His remarkable performance in the 1964 Gator Bowl, where he recorded a then-school-record 13 catches for 194 yards and four touchdowns, remains etched in college football lore as one of the greatest displays of skill.
