According to the report, a former LSU basketball player will be returning to join Matt McMahon’s coaching staff.

Jalen Courtney-Williams, a former LSU basketball player who was part of the Tigers’ roster from 2010 to 2013, is returning to the program to join Matt McMahon’s coaching staff. This move was initially reported by Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.

Originally from Jackson, Mississippi, Courtney-Williams played under former Tigers’ coach Trent Johnson for three seasons before transferring to Morehead State.

For the past three years, Courtney-Williams has been coaching at Creighton University, where he contributed to the team’s success in reaching the NCAA tournament each year. During the 2023-2024 season, Creighton achieved a 25-10 record but was eliminated in the Sweet 16 by Tennessee.

Before his tenure at Creighton, Courtney-Williams spent three seasons coaching at McNeese State. He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Mississippi State in 2015 and later served as the Bulldogs’ video coordinator in 2017 before transitioning to McNeese State.
