The Green Bay Packers are scheduled to face off against the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil.

In São Paulo, Brazil, the National Football League made a groundbreaking announcement today, revealing that the Green Bay Packers will clash with the Philadelphia Eagles in the inaugural regular-season game to be held in Brazil as part of the 2024 International Games.

Set for Friday, September 6, 2024, this match will mark a significant moment as the NFL hasn’t scheduled a game on a Friday night for the opening weekend in over five decades (since Cardinals at Rams on September 18, 1970). The showdown will unfold at the Corinthians Arena in São Paulo, home turf of the Brazilian soccer team SC Corinthians, serving as the first game of the 2024 regular season for both teams.

Managing Director and Head of NFL International, Gerrit Meier, expressed excitement, highlighting the strategic priority of global growth for the NFL and its 32 clubs. The event promises to energize the fervent fan base in Brazil, with over 35 million enthusiasts, making it a historic moment for the sport internationally.

Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy echoed this sentiment, expressing anticipation for the matchup and emphasizing the team’s commitment to contributing to the NFL’s global expansion.

Mayor of São Paulo, Ricardo Nunes, emphasized the significance of hosting such an event for the city, anticipating economic benefits and global visibility.

President of SPTuris, Gustavo Pires, underlined the popularity of the Green Bay Packers in Brazil and expressed delight in providing Brazilian fans with the opportunity to witness their favorite team live in São Paulo.

The game will be exclusively streamed by Peacock (NBCUniversal) in São Paulo, Brazil, and will also be accessible through free, over-the-air broadcast television in the local markets of the competing teams and on mobile devices with NFL+.

In addition to São Paulo, five regular-season games will be part of the 2024 NFL International Games, with designated teams for the Europe slate already announced. Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London will host games featuring the Chicago Bears and the Minnesota Vikings, while the Jacksonville Jaguars will return to Wembley Stadium as part of their ongoing commitment to playing in the U.K. Munich, Germany, will also host a game, with the Carolina Panthers set to play in Allianz Arena, home of FC Bayern Munich.

This game in South America further expands the NFL’s global presence, marking its presence on five of the seven continents worldwide. Additional opponents and kickoff times for all games will be revealed with the release of the 2024 schedule in the spring.
