Mark Pope conducted a virtual meeting with Liam McNeeley via Zoom.

Liam McNeeley, still one of the standout prospects in the 2024 class, is currently weighing his options for college basketball. Ranked as the 16th overall player and the 4th small forward in his class, McNeeley’s decision is eagerly anticipated. Previously, there was much speculation about him potentially joining the Kentucky Wildcats, particularly under the tenure of former coach John Calipari.

With Calipari’s departure for Arkansas, it was presumed that Kentucky’s pursuit of McNeeley might wane. However, recent developments suggest otherwise. According to a report by Matt Jones of Kentucky Sports Radio, the new head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats, Mark Pope, held a Zoom call with McNeeley on Wednesday night.

McNeeley is renowned for his sharpshooting skills, but he offers much more versatility on the court, capable of challenging defenses in various ways. His style of play could seamlessly fit into Pope’s offensive strategies at Kentucky.

While it remains uncertain whether Kentucky stands a strong chance of securing McNeeley’s commitment, the fact that Pope is actively engaging with him indicates that the Wildcats are still very much in contention as McNeeley approaches his final decision.
