Damien Martinez, the running back from Oregon State, has called off his planned visit to Tennessee.
Oregon State running back Damien Martinez has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, a move made on Tuesday as the official spring portal window opened on April 15. With Martinez’s impressive track record of 2,354 all-purpose yards and 16 touchdowns over his two seasons with the Beavers, several prominent programs are already expressing interest in acquiring his talents.
During the previous season, Martinez ranked second in rushing yards across the Pac-12, accumulating 1,185 rushing yards. Jesse Simonton from On3 has identified five potential landing spots for Martinez: Miami, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, and Tennessee. Although the Vols initially scheduled a visit with Martinez, he announced on Wednesday that the trip had been canceled.
This decision suggests that Tennessee may be satisfied with their current running back situation and may not pursue another transfer from the portal. Despite the absence of backup running back Cameron Seldon for the spring and summer, with his expected return in the fall, the Vols may opt to increase his workload during fall camp instead.
