Gonzaga extends an offer to highly sought-after prospect Sam Funches.

Gonzaga Bulldogs have officially extended an offer to Sam Funches, the top-ranked center in the 2026 class, as confirmed by Gonzaga Nation on Wednesday.

Funches, a five-star recruit, holds the No. 11 spot overall in his class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He has garnered interest from various prestigious programs such as Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Creighton, Florida State, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State, among others.

Originally from Madison, Mississippi, Funches seems inclined towards staying close to home for his college career. Despite late interest from Mississippi State and visits to other SEC schools, On3.com indicates that Ole Miss currently holds the best odds of securing his commitment, especially considering his multiple visits to the campus.

With an impressive 247Sports composite rating of 0.9955, Funches is poised to become one of the top recruits in Gonzaga’s history, alongside the likes of Chet Holmgren, Jalen Suggs, and Hunter Sallis.

In other recruiting news, Gonzaga is also eyeing 6-foot-4 guard Nolan Traore, who showcased his skills at the 2024 Nike Hoop Summit. Traore, who is also considering offers from Xavier and Alabama, presents another promising prospect for the Bulldogs.

Additionally, Trent Perry has reopened his recruitment after decommitting from USC. Villanova, Alabama, and Tennessee have entered the fray for Perry’s services, as revealed by Perry himself in an interview with SBLive on April 10th.
