Ex-Bengals quarterback Jeff Driskel is set to start for the Browns in Week 18.

The Cincinnati Bengals will conclude their season this Sunday at Paycor Stadium against the Cleveland Browns. While they won’t be vying for a playoff spot, the Bengals aim to secure a winning record and avoid a winless record against AFC North opponents.

Meanwhile, the Cleveland Browns, already locked in as the fifth seed in the AFC Playoffs, plan to rest many of their key starters as they prioritize maintaining their players’ health for the postseason.

In an unexpected turn, the Bengals will not have to contend with Joe Flacco at quarterback for the Browns. Instead, they will face Jeff Driskel, a familiar face who previously started five games for the Bengals in 2018 before recently joining the Browns’ roster.

Anticipate that prominent Browns players like Myles Garrett, Denzel Ward, and Amari Cooper will also receive rest days. It wouldn’t be prudent for Kevin Stefanski to risk the health of impact players in a Week 18 matchup with no stakes.

While the Bengals are likely to have most of their starters on the field, Ja’Marr Chase, dealing with a shoulder injury, may aim to secure two more catches to break the franchise record before considering sitting out. Additionally, Trey Hendrickson is in contention to become the first Bengals player ever to lead the NFL in sacks, as he currently shares the top spot with the Pittsburgh Steelers’ TJ Watt at 17 sacks.

As the offseason approaches, this game may mark the final appearance for several Bengals players, including Chidobe Awuzie, Tyler Boyd, and possibly Tee Higgins, as they may not return to the team next season.
