He is coming: Michael Ajayi deal with Gonzaga bulldogs is terminated base on…..

The Gonzaga Bulldogs have revealed that Michael Ajayi, who previously played for Pepperdine, will be joining their men’s basketball program for the upcoming 2024-25 season. Mark Few expressed his enthusiasm for Ajayi’s addition, highlighting his strong work ethic and character, which align well with the team.

Hailing from Kent, Washington, Ajayi topped the scoring charts in the West Coast Conference last season, averaging 17.1 points and nearly 10 rebounds per game. He showcased impressive shooting percentages, including 46.7% from the field and 47% from three-point range, earning him All-WCC first team honors. Standing at 6-foot-7, Ajayi had notable performances, scoring over 20 points in 11 games and surpassing 30 points twice.

Following his decision to transfer to Gonzaga in late March, Ajayi also entered his name in the 2024 NBA Draft while preserving his college eligibility. However, it is anticipated that he will retract his draft declaration by May 29 to maintain his eligibility per NCAA regulations.

Should Ajayi return to Gonzaga, he will join a roster filled with experienced players, with only one rotation member departing this offseason. With six of the top seven scorers from last season’s Sweet 16 team expected to return, along with the potential addition of a healthy Steele Venters, Gonzaga is poised to be considered a top-10 team in preseason rankings by many analysts.

Ajayi’s basketball journey saw him excel at Pierce Community College, where he was honored as the 2022 Northwest Athletic Conference West Region’s Most Valuable Player and Freshman of the Year. Prior to that, he displayed his talents in high school, averaging double digits in points and rebounds during his varsity season at Kentwood High School in Washington.
