New Marlins Assistant GM Gabe Kapler is a TikTok Star (and Heartthrob)

Former Major League Baseball journeyman Gabe Kapler has undergone a transformation since joining the Miami Marlins. Upon becoming the assistant general manager in December 2023, the former outfielder and ex-manager of the Philadelphia Phillies and San Francisco Giants embraced a new pastime, possibly inspired by a New Year’s resolution.

At 48, Kapler made his TikTok debut on New Year’s Day, sharing his first in a series of motivational speeches that have evolved into what can best be described as thirst traps. This shift has occurred even as the Marlins have struggled significantly, remaining at the bottom of the National League East division.

Kapler’s initial TikTok video, akin to a bunt single, features him walking through Brickell while offering tips for a healthier 2024. “My first TikTok video is five tips that will help you be healthier in ’24 than ’23,” he announces.

In his subsequent videos, Kapler showcases his cooking skills, shares motivational advice, and documents his daily outfits. Last month, he posted a video of himself donning an all-black suit to the tune of Tommy Richman’s “Million Dollar Baby.”
