HE’S BACK: Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey is back from….

Earlier this week, EA Sports revealed that former Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey will be the cover athlete for Madden 25. This marks the first time a running back has been featured on the cover since Barry Sanders in 2014.

Although Panthers fans might have preferred to see McCaffrey in his Carolina gear rather than a San Francisco 49ers uniform, it’s still a significant honor. Additionally, another prominent Carolina Panthers figure will have a major role in this year’s game, which should thrill fans.

On Friday, EA Sports announced that Madden 25 will feature two new broadcasting teams, including former Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen. Olsen, who spent nine years with the Panthers after starting his career with the Chicago Bears, last played in the NFL in 2020 with the Seattle Seahawks. Since then, he has become a highly regarded color commentator. In Madden 25, Olsen will be paired with Mike Tirico, while the other commentary teams will include Brandon Gaudin-Charles Davis and Kate Scott-Brock Huard.

Olsen enjoyed a successful nine-year tenure with the Panthers, earning three Pro Bowl selections and two second-team All-Pro honors. He recorded 524 receptions (on 838 targets) for 6,463 yards and 39 touchdowns. His best season with the Panthers came in 2015, with 77 receptions (on 124 targets) for 1,104 yards and seven touchdowns.

With the addition of Olsen’s commentary, Panthers fans have an even greater reason to get excited about Madden 25, beyond just playing with first-round pick wide receiver Xavier Legette. Now, they can also enjoy hearing Olsen’s voice calling the games from a virtual perspective.
