shocking news: Tennessee football’s 5-star commit shockingly falls 60 places in the 2025 class rankings.

Tennessee football commit George MacIntyre has excelled over the past two seasons, earning a five-star rating from most recruiting outlets. As the starting quarterback for Brentwood Academy, he has amassed 5,570 yards and 44 touchdowns.

When MacIntyre committed to Tennessee earlier this year, he was a five-star recruit with impressive stats from his sophomore and junior years. He was ranked as the No. 9 player and No. 2 quarterback in the 2025 class, considered a future star for the Vols.

However, until June, the 6-foot-5, 190-pound quarterback was rated as the No. 30 overall recruit. This significant drop comes despite no high school games being played since December.

The reason for MacIntyre’s drop in rankings is straightforward: he hasn’t attended camps during the offseason. As a committed five-star quarterback, he likely felt no need to further prove himself to scouts.

However, 247Sports has dropped him 60 spots, from a five-star to a four-star, due to his absence from camps because of a hand injury. They now rank him No. 69 overall and the No. 8 quarterback. On3 Sports ranks him even lower, placing him as a four-star, the No. 74 player, and the No. 8 quarterback in the class.

While camps are important for evaluating high school recruits, they shouldn’t be the sole determinant. Football performance on the field should carry more weight. Despite his drop in the 2025 class rankings, MacIntyre remains one of the top quarterbacks in the class and is expected to prove his worth this fall leading Brentwood Academy in his senior season.
