Alassane Pléa (28) could leave'Gladbach this window - Get French Football News

Bild reports that Borussia Mönchengladbach plans to offload striker Alassane Pléa this summer, as his contract is set to expire next year.

Given the current circumstances, Gladbach is against extending Pléa’s contract mainly because he is one of the club’s highest earners. If the 31-year-old is unwilling to accept a pay cut for an extension, Gladbach will aim to sell him this summer.

The club wants to avoid a repeat of the situation with Marcus Thuram, Ramy Bensebaini, and Matthias Ginter, who all left on free transfers. Selling Pléa this summer would likely bring in a decent fee for the striker, who is currently valued at €7 million, though this would be a loss compared to the €23 million spent to acquire him in 2019.

Selling Pléa would allow Gladbach to fund a replacement. According to Bild and Sky Germany, Heidenheim striker Tim Kleindienst is the potential candidate. The 28-year-old is valued at around €7-8 million, and negotiations are ongoing.

Heidenheim wants a decision on Kleindienst’s future by July 1st.
