Yankees fans weigh in on Juan Soto’s audacious remark made before the Subway Series while rocking a Mets jersey.

After one of the most monumental trades in sports history, New York Yankees supporters will see Juan Soto back at their ballpark. Before the game, the star outfielder donned a New York Mets jersey and issued a defiant proclamation.

Over 40 games into the MLB regular season, New York baseball fans will spot Juan Soto back in action—this time donning a New York Mets uniform. Following his standout performance in last year’s American League Championship Series, Soto is returning to the city he called home in 2024.

The Subway Series begins this Friday and continues through the weekend, reigniting the city rivalry—with the added subplot of Soto’s first return to Yankee Stadium. Having racked up standout stats while wearing pinstripes, Soto now aims to extend that success as a member of the Mets.

On the eve of the opener, Soto sat down with New York Post writer Jon Heyman to discuss what coming back to Yankee Stadium means to him. He didn’t hold back in describing how he anticipates the crowd will greet him when he steps into the batter’s box.

“It’s going to be 50,000 against one. They’re going to try to get on me, you know. It’s part of it. Whatever they do, they have the right to do it. I’m just going to go out there and do my stuff. I’m just going to try to focus on my game,” Soto said.

Yankees fans react to Soto’s message

Across social media, Soto’s recent comments have been buzzing among Yankees supporters, many counting down the days until his return to Yankee Stadium. One fan wrote, “This weekend’s going to be wild—Soto’s up from Friday. Bottom line, he went for the money. Whether he hits or misses, the crowd’s going to cheer and jeer.” As the series opener nears, anticipation and divided feelings are reaching a fever pitch.

Another fan wrote, “Soto isn’t worth $765M, lmfao. Hope they throw at him, but they don’t need to because we know he’s just gonna ground out to first base.” A separate post on X read, “We knew he wasn’t very smart, but how does he not know Mets fans will also be at the game in NY?”

Given the buzz surrounding his record-breaking deal with the Mets, Soto will return to Yankee Stadium wearing a different jersey for the first time. The anticipation is high, and fans will be watching closely when he steps up to the plate.
