Could a trade be on the horizon for Lorenzo Carter of the Atlanta Falcons?

Lorenzo Carter has played a significant yet often overlooked role in the Atlanta Falcons’ defense of late.

In the last two seasons, Carter amassed 93 total tackles, recorded 12 tackles for loss, and notched seven sacks. While he began all 17 games in 2022, the Atlanta native transitioned to a rotational position in 2023.

After spending two seasons in his hometown, there’s speculation that Carter may be headed elsewhere this offseason. Bleacher Report has suggested the Miami Dolphins as a potential landing spot for Carter, should the Falcons decide to part ways with him.

“Bleacher Report writes, “Lorenzo Carter can help [Shaq] Barrett bolster the Dolphins’ pass rush.” Despite his inconsistency as a starter, Carter found success as a rotational player with the Atlanta Falcons last season…

“With the Falcons undergoing coaching changes, Carter could potentially be available for a sixth-round draft pick. In such a scenario, the Dolphins might consider pursuing him.”

In Miami, Carter would likely serve as a backup to Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips. However, given both players’ history of late-season injuries, Carter could still play a significant role for the Dolphins.

If the new coaching staff doesn’t see Carter as a fit for their plans, trading him to acquire additional draft assets could be a sensible move for the Falcons.
