Deal Terminated: Wide receiver Chris Godwin withdraw his Commitment with Buccaneers to Join…

CBS selects Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver in NFL draft trade speculations.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been active in retaining their talent during free agency, including making trades with the Detroit Lions to offload some veterans. Now, CBS Sports has compiled a list of potential trade targets for the Buccaneers before and during the NFL Draft. Among the mentioned players is Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin, who is in the final year of his contract. While the likelihood of Godwin being traded is considered low, there are reasons why it could happen, as outlined by writer Cody Benjamin.

The Buccaneers have focused on the present, re-signing key players like Baker Mayfield, Mike Evans, Lavonte David, and Antoine Winfield Jr. However, with Godwin’s expensive contract coming to an end in 2024 and Evans commanding a significant salary, there’s speculation that the Buccaneers might consider drafting a replacement for Godwin, despite his reliability as a starter.

While it’s improbable that Godwin will leave this year, there’s a realistic possibility that he could depart in free agency next year. With other players such as Tristan Wirfs and Antoine Winfield Jr. also needing new contracts, the Buccaneers may need to prioritize and Godwin could be a casualty in the upcoming offseason shuffle.

Additionally, CBS Sports also suggested Patriots outside linebacker Matthew Judon as a potential trade target, with the Buccaneers being one of the teams mentioned as a possible destination for the edge rusher.
