Timberwolves standout Anthony Edwards vows an explicit playoff commitment amidst struggles with shooting accuracy.

The Minnesota Timberwolves remain in contention for the top seed in the Western Conference, trailing the Denver Nuggets by just half a game after a significant 113-106 victory over the vastly improved Houston Rockets on Tuesday night. This development is particularly encouraging given Anthony Edwards’ recent struggles.

Edwards has experienced a notable decline in his shooting performance, shooting just 38.6 percent from the field over the past six games, and has failed to make any three-pointers in his last three outings, missing his last 22 attempts from beyond the arc. Prior to March 24, 2024, he maintained a three-point shooting percentage of 37.4 percent, which has now dropped to 35.8 percent during this rough patch. Nonetheless, Edwards remains optimistic about a turnaround, expressing confidence that his shooting will improve just in time for the playoffs.

“In the playoffs, that performance will improve,” Edwards declared assertively after the win against the Rockets, as reported by Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic.

While Edwards’ shooting woes might be cause for concern, the Timberwolves have managed to secure victories against formidable opponents like the Denver Nuggets and Rockets despite his struggles. Edwards has continued to contribute in other areas, showcasing his defensive prowess and ability to score in transition and draw fouls, as evidenced by his perfect 11-11 free throw shooting against the Rockets.

This resilience and versatility demonstrate Edwards’ value as a true star player. With seven games remaining in the regular season, the Timberwolves are counting on Edwards to regain his shooting form, especially with uncertainty lingering over Karl-Anthony Towns’ recovery from a knee injury.
