Recruit Brandon Lockhart made a return trip over the weekend for an informal visit to Georgia, as the Bulldogs continue their pursuit of the highly regarded West Coast talent.

The departure of John Calipari from Kentucky to Arkansas has sent shockwaves through the college basketball world. Despite flirtations with Texas in 2022-23 and Ohio State this spring, Calipari’s decision to leave Kentucky, where he amassed 410 victories including one National Championship, has taken many by surprise.

Kentucky now faces its first coaching search in 15 seasons, since the tumultuous Billy Gillespie era. Despite early success, including a 38-1 record in the 2014-15 season, the program has experienced a decline with only two Elite Eight appearances and one additional Sweet 16 since. Despite Calipari’s “lifetime contract” signed during the 2018-19 season, Kentucky has only managed one NCAA Tournament win, suffering losses to Saint Peter’s and Oakland.
