Michael Ajayi, who has transferred from Pepperdine, plans to make a visit to the Gonzaga Bulldogs.

According to information from Joe Tipton on On3.com, Michael Ajayi, who plays for Pepperdine men’s basketball team, is said to be scheduling visits to Gonzaga and Ole Miss in the upcoming weeks. Originally from Kent, Washington, Ajayi had an impressive debut season in Division-I basketball, earning a spot on the All-West Coast Conference first team with averages of 17.2 points and 9.9 rebounds per game, along with a notable 47.0% shooting from three-point range. Standing at 6-foot-7, he is ranked sixth in On3.com’s transfer portal rankings.

Reportedly, Ajayi entered the transfer portal on March 18, attracting interest from various prestigious programs including Indiana, Kansas, Arizona, Baylor, and UCLA. Notably, he had a standout performance against Gonzaga earlier in the season but was less effective in their subsequent matchup. Ajayi’s contributions in WCC play were also significant, averaging 17.1 points and 9.4 rebounds.

Pepperdine faces significant changes following the dismissal of head coach Lorenzo Romar and potential departures of several players via the transfer portal, including key contributors like Jevon Porter, Houston Mallette, Nils Cooper, Malik Moore, and Jalen Pitre. With the graduation of Ethan Anderson, the team’s starting lineup will see a complete overhaul.

For Gonzaga, Ajayi could serve as a valuable addition post the departure of fifth-year senior Anton Watson. Watson is the sole player on the roster whose eligibility will end after this season.
